20 years in Darwin: Pole breakthroughs

Three drivers have scored the first ARMOR ALL Pole Position of their Supercars careers at Hidden Valley.

Jason Bright achieved the feat at the inaugural event in 1998, making the most of a level playing field during his rookie season.

By contrast, Jason Richards was in his ninth Supercars season when he broke through for his first career pole at Hidden Valley in 2009.

The Kiwi's typically committed effort in the Saturday Top 10 Shootout was enough to edge Jamie Whincup, much to the delight of the Brad Jones Racing team.

A year later it was Alex Davison's turn, stunning the field aboard his Stone Brothers Ford on the Sunday after managing just 25th on the grid the previous day.

Look back at all three pole positions as part of our video series celebrating 20 years of Supercars racing in the Northern Territory.
