20 years in Darwin: Ambrose's wild weekend

Marcos Ambrose scored his maiden Supercars round win at Hidden Valley in 2001 and backed it up again two years later, defeating Mark Skaife in a tense battle.

The duo ramped it up another notch in the Top End in 2004, where a last lap, last corner dive for the Race 1 win from Ambrose knocked Skaife off the track.

Ambrose limped home from the hip-and-shoulder in third, powerless to stop Stone Brothers team-mate Russell Ingall sweeping through for the win.

The weekend took another dramatic twist at the start of Race 2, where Ingall was punted from the lead by Ambrose at the first corner.

Rewind to Ambrose’s 2003 triumph and the 2004 clash with Skaife as part of our video series celebrating 20 years of Supercars racing in the Northern Territory.
