1) This event marks the 30th time the Repco Supercars Championship has held a round at Sydney Motorsport Park and is the first time the venue has held the first round of the season since 1999.

2) This weekend marks the sixth consecutive championship round held in New South Wales, dating back to the opening round of Sydney Motorsport Park’s quadruple header in 2021. This is the first time that one state has hosted six consecutive rounds in ATCC/Supercars Championship history.

3) Red Bull Ampol Racing has an impressive record of success in the opening race of the year. The team has won the first race of every Repco Supercars Championship season on all but two occasions since Craig Lowndes won the opening leg of the 2006 Adelaide 500 – a total of 14 races.

Triple Eight's first win came in Sydney in 2005

4) Broc Feeney will become the fourth youngest driver to compete in an SMSP Supercars Championship round when he lines up on the grid this weekend at the age of 19 years, 137 days. The youngest remains Alex Rullo (17 years, 65 days in 2017), followed by Shane van Gisbergen (18 years, 304 days in 2008) and Rick Kelly (19 years, 100 days in 2002).

5) Will Davison and James Courtney both start their 221nd championship round at SMSP, moving them past Supercars Hall of Famer Mark Skaife for 10th on the all-time round starts list in ATCC/Supercars Championship history.

6) The first race at SMSP will be Mark Winterbottom’s 43rd championship race at the circuit, making him the all-time Supercars race starts record holder at the venue (Craig Lowndes has 42 race starts, Jamie Whincup 41). The IRWIN Racing driver has a single race win at the venue but he is yet to stand on the top step of the podium at SMSP; he won the last race of the 2008 event, the last year to award podium finishes based on overall round results.

7) Jake Kostecki’s debut race with Tickford Racing this weekend will also double as his 50th Supercars Championship race start. He made his championship debut alongside cousin Brodie at the 2019 Bathurst 1000.

8) The front row has delivered almost two-thirds of Sydney Motorsport Park’s race winners in ATCC/Supercars Championship history. 44 of the 68 races have been won by cars starting on the front row of the grid; 32 of those started from the ARMOR ALL Pole Position.

9) Tim Slade has the most experienced chassis in the field to start 2022. His CoolDrive Racing Ford Mustang GT, originally built as a Falcon by Tickford Racing in 2016, has competed in 147 championship races to this point.

10) Almost one third of the 2022 Repco Supercars Championship grid are former winners of the Dunlop Super2 Series. The additions of Broc Feeney, Thomas Randle and Chris Pither to the full-time field for 2022 brings the tally to eight: the trio join Cam Waters, Bryce Fullwood, Mark Winterbottom, Todd Hazelwood, and Garry Jacobson.
