Cam Waters just 82 points ahead of Chaz Mostert in points
Bonus points awarded for top 10 drivers in The Finals
Broc Feeney in box seat to win Sprint Cup and qualify for Finals
Cam Waters and Chaz Mostert have been joined at the hip for the balance of their careers, and looking at the 2025 standings, this season has been no different.
Former Tickford Racing teammates turned rivals, Waters and Mostert have gone into battle several times in the last 10 years, yet neither have reached the summit with a Supercars championship win.
While Broc Feeney, Will Brown and Matt Payne are up the road, the top 10 will be brought back together for a three-round elimination swing in The Finals to crown the champion.
Every race matters, and as it stands, Feeney has all but earned the first Golden Ticket into The Finals, and 25 bonus points. Brown, Payne, Waters and Mostert could all mathematically clinch a Finals berth in Ipswich.
Where drivers finish after Bathurst will set the top 10 positions for the Gold Coast and, with it, bonus points from first through 10th.
The driver in first has 150 points, with a decreasing bonus of 120, 96, 78, 66, 57, 48, 39, 30 down to 21 points for 10th. Sprint Cup and Enduro Cup Bonus points are then applied.
While the top three have a buffer, Mostert has closed the gap to Waters to just 82 points heading to Ipswich.
Across the last six rounds and 18 races since Sydney, Waters has only out-scored Mostert by 17 points. That's right, in an 18-race stretch with 1815 points up for grabs, there was just 17 points between the former teammates.
The difference between fourth and fifth, when it comes to bonus points for the Gold Coast, is 18 points. While it doesn't seem like much on paper, it could easily be the difference between progressing to Sandown, and missing out.
Brown and Payne are only split by 15 points. The difference between second and third for the Gold Coast? 24 bonus points.
Then, there's Thomas Randle, Andre Heimgartner and Ryan Wood, who are ranked eighth, ninth and 10th. The three are covered by 45 points. The difference between eighth and 10th for the Gold Coast? 18 bonus points.
The 2025 Supercars season resumes at the Century Batteries Ipswich Super 440. Supercars drivers will contest three races at the August 8-10 event. Tickets are on sale now. International viewers can watch the action on SuperView.
What is the Finals, and how do you make it?
10 drivers qualify for the Finals after Bathurst
Winners of Sprint Cup and Enduro Cup gain automatic entry
Each round is worth 300 points
Fastest lap bonus points on offer for each Sprint Cup race
From 2025, Supercars drivers will take an historic new path in the fight for championship glory. The 2025 Repco Supercars Championship will be held over 34 races across 13 rounds, in three different segments: Sprint Cup, Enduro Cup, and the Finals.
Finals for the 2025 championship occur post-Bathurst over the last three rounds at the Gold Coast, Sandown and Adelaide.
Only 10 drivers will be eligible for the Finals based on championship points from the regular season, which is all 27 races up to and including Bathurst, and 'Cup' winning eligibility.
What does that mean? Simply, the winners of the Sprint Cup and the Enduro Cup each have automatic entry into the Finals, and receive 25 bonus points to start the first round of the Finals with.
The remaining positions for the Finals are based on regular season championship points.
Each round is worth 300 points. There will also be five bonus points for the driver who sets the fastest lap in all Sprint Cup races. The fastest lap is only eligible for bonus points if the driver finishes in the top 15. These contribute to championship points for that round.
What's at stake before Finals
At the first round of the Finals at the Gold Coast, all 10 drivers in the Finals have their championship points reset to 3000 points. Standings from the regular season then define the regular season bonus points.
The driver in first has 150 points, with a decreasing bonus of 120, 96, 78, 66, 57, 48, 39, 30 down to 21 points for 10th. Sprint Cup and Enduro Cup Bonus points are then applied.
