Brodie Kostecki expects to find to answers after his Shell V-Power Ford got "progressively got worse” after his stunning Townsville win.

The 2023 champion dominated Friday’s sprint race from pole position, but his weekend slowly unravelled, culminating in a 16th on Sunday.

After missing a Shootout berth on Sunday, Kostecki ran eighth after the first pit stop cycle.

The reigning Bathurst champion hinted at steering issues after Sunday morning qualifying, but it seemed there was more at play in the race.

Speaking on Supercars’ Cool Down Lap podcast, Kostecki said: “Obviously Friday was really good, we've got a lot to look into to today and to yesterday.

“Sort of the car has progressively got worse, so I'm sure we will take it back and dissect it, and have a look. I'm sure we'll find something.

He continued: "I was just honestly stoked with Friday and the car feeling good, back in a window and just sort of got pretty goofy over the next two days.

"I've had this feeling before and I'm pretty sure I know what it is, we'll go back and find it."

There was speed across the garage, with Will Davison qualifying second and impressing in the Shootout on used tyres.

However, a loose wheel killed Davison’s hopes in the race, although Kostecki was pleased the #17 had pace.

"Davo was really strong today, with pace, obviously qualified second, was the quickest on used tyre runners in the Shootout, which was great to see,” Kostecki said.

“And yeah, obviously he just had a pretty costly pit stop issue. It is what it is, we'll go back and find it."

The 2025 Repco Supercars Championship continues at the Century Batteries Ipswich Super 440 from August 8-10. Tickets for the event are on sale now.
