Eseries preview: Round 9 at Michigan

Michigan had already been confirmed to be part of the line-up for tonight, following the success of oval racing at Charlotte a fortnight back.

Four options were put to the Eseries field for how the rest of the round would look: Laguna Seca, Road America, Le Mans, or to stay on at Michigan.

A number of drivers posted videos revealing their selections, with Macauley Jones choosing Laguna Seca, Nick Percat opting for Road America and Rick Kelly doubling down on Michigan.

All up, Laguna Seca drew eight votes and Le Mans five, while Percat had no support from his peers for Road America.

But it was Michigan that ultimately came up trumps with the majority of drivers, making for a full night of intense slipstreaming around the high-speed venue.

The Charlotte race – Supercars’ first time on an oval, albeit virtually – provided excellent entertainment, with few crashes, multiple changes for the lead and a tight finish.

By the end, just 0.114 seconds separated race winner Shane van Gisbergen from fourth-placed Bryce Fullwood, with the Mustangs of Cameron Waters and Fabian Coulthard wedged in between.

Qualifying will get underway from 6pm AEST on Fox Sports 506, with the race broadcast starting at 7pm.

The 10th and final round next week is provisionally scheduled to take place at Bathurst and Oran Park.
