Supercars 2010 champion James Courtney will make his debut in a Ford Mustang tonight, albeit a virtual one, when he returns to the BP All Stars Eseries.

Courtney announced his return to the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship as Tickford Racing’s newest driver last week, following the departure of 23Red Racing and Will Davison due to COVID cutbacks for the major sponsor of car #23.

The 39-year old will make his real-life Mustang debut in his new Boost Mobile Racing Ford when Supercars return to racing on June 27-28 at Sydney Motorsport Par.k

He will stick with #44, his original racing number in karting and Europe.

The 2010 title winner announced he was leaving Team Sydney following the Superloop Adelaide 500 after one round with the team and debuted in the Eseries in Round 5 at Spa aboard a Boost-backed Commodore.

Supercars will race online at Interlagos (formally known as Autódromo José Carlos Pace) home of the Brazilian Grand Prix and a fan-determined second circuit tonight.

Fans have been voting on Supercars’ Facebook page for this week’s alternate circuit which is down to either Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium or Phillip Island, Australia.

Voting closes 9am AEST today.

Courtney is the fourth wildcard announced to take to the grid in tonight's eighth round of the BP Supercars All Stars Eseries. He will join Mark Winterbottom’s PIRTEK Enduro Cup co-driver James Golding, Dunlop Super2 rookie Tyler Everingham and winner of the BP Ultimate Wildcard competition, Fawzan El-Nabi.

Qualifying for the eighth round will begin tonight at 6pm AEST and will be broadcast exclusively on Fox Sports 506 before racing begins at 7pm.

From 7pm, racing will be broadcast live on Fox Sports 506, Kayo, Sky Sports (NZ) and 10 Play.
