Bryce Fullwood is armed and ready to capitalise and secure his first podium with Brad Jones Racing amid a sparkling run of form.’

Andre Heimgartner has taken all the headlines in the BJR camp, after scoring his sixth podium of the season in Sydney last weekend.

However, fellow second-year BJR driver Fullwood is inching closer to elusive silverware, having extended his top 10 form at Sydney Motorsport Park.

Fullwood finished eighth and fifth in Sydney, and has seven top 10 finishes in his last eight starts dating back to Tasmania in May.

Critically, Fullwood’s form has combined with Heimgartner to keep BJR in third in the teams’ championship standings, behind Erebus and Triple Eight.

“Everything is building nicely at the moment, every race meeting we come out and go better and better,” Fullwood told the Schick Cool Down Lap podcast.

“I don’t really want to change a whole lot at the moment, I think the ingredients are right, we need to keep chipping away.

“A podium in this category is pretty epic. To come away with fifth yesterday and fourth in qualifying, it means we’re right up the pointy end.

“If we can stay there and capitalise when it’s our day, we should be there to take a trophy home.”

Fullwood’s Mr Consistent tag is such, that he is the only driver in the top 11 in the championship without a podium finish after 19 races.

Fittingly, Fullwood is now readying to race at The Bend Motorsport Park, where he secured his sole Supercars podium with Walkinshaw Andretti United in 2020.

The Darwin-born driver has been fighting Team 18’s Mark Winterbottom at the back of the top 10 in the standings, with Fullwood moving ahead in Sydney.

However, while pleased to finally crack the top 10 in the championship — he has points finishes of 18th, 14th and 17th — Fullwood wants silverware.

“I’ve been behind Winterbottom for a little while, and we’ve both been going pretty good,

“It’s taken me so long to pass him in the championship, it’s been like I’ve been chasing him to first in the championship!

“Very productive [Sydney] weekend, Andre had very strong results. For me, just getting better every weekend.

“Really happy, all smiles here, looking forward to going to the next one.”

The 2023 Repco Supercars Championship will resume at the OTR SuperSprint on August 18-20. Tickets are on sale now.
