2021 Supercars season to resume under Sydney lights

The 2021 Repco Supercars Championship will resume under lights in October at Sydney Motorsport Park.

The Sydney venue will host the first racing action since July’s WD-40 Townsville SuperSprint.

Like it did in 2020, Sydney Motorsport Park will be the venue for the season resumption after a three-month hiatus due to COVID restrictions.

The Eastern Creek venue will stage four back-to-back weekends of racing, starting on October 29.

The event dates at Sydney Motorsport Park are confirmed as follows:

Sydney Motorsport Park features various layouts and dedicated lighting, which makes it the perfect venue for the 2021 season to roar back into life.

The various layouts and lighting will be used over the four weekends to produce a month-long spectacle for motorsport fans in NSW and around Australia. It will conclude with the Beaurepaires SydneySuperNight on the final weekend.

The Sydney events will be followed by the season-ending Repco Bathurst 1000, which is now a six-day event, starting on November 30 and finishing on December 5.

Multiple races will be held at night over the four events, and fans can expect a variation in formats and regulations.

The first race in Sydney will also be the 60th in ATCC/Supercars history at the venue since its 1992 debut.

Fans will be welcome at all events.

Ticketing details are being prepared, but fans can expect multi-event packages, family packages, park and view, grandstand and general admission options to cater for all tastes and expectations.

Details of the ticketing information will be communicated by Supercars soon.

Supercars will be working closely with health authorities around COVID-safe measures and Public Health Order requirements to ensure the safety of all staff and patrons attending the event. All teams and officials will follow appropriate health guidelines for each event.

Australian Racing Drivers’ Club CEO Glenn Matthews added: "The Australian Racing Drivers’ Club is proud to co-drive alongside Supercars this history-making month-long racing showcase at Sydney Motorsport Park.

"Sydney Motorsport Park is a proven big event venue and is ready for this exciting challenge across four consecutive rounds.

"The ARDC thanks the many valued event and experience partners who have made way for this unique series of races to occur."

Supercars CEO Sean Seamer said it was "fitting" the 2021 season will resume at the same venue that helped restart the 2020 campaign.

“It is fitting that we return to racing at Sydney Motorsport Park, as we did in 2020. Those first races produced some of the best entertainment in years, and this time will be no different," Seamer said.

"The venue is world-class and under its new permanent lighting makes for spectacular viewing for fans at the circuit and watching at home.

"First and foremost, we are happy to be back, but we will make sure we use everything that SMSP has to offer to put on the best possible show.
