At various times, traffic conditions will be altered and delays could be experienced.

Supercars has worked closely with several stakeholders including the City of Gold Coast, the Department of Transport and Main Roads, the Queensland Police Service and Translink to ensure this event can be carried out safely while minimising inconvenience to local residents and businesses.

MacIntosh Island

MacIntosh Island will be accessible to the public during the construction of the 2018 Vodafone Gold Coast 600.

Public parking will be restricted in the area from October 1 – November 9 due to ongoing construction and deconstruction works.

The park will be closed to the public over the race weekend: from 7am Friday October 19 – 5am Tuesday October 23.

From Wednesday October 10 – Wednesday October 24, there will be no pedestrian access to Macintosh Island via the Admiralty Dr intersection. Diversions will be clearly marked.

Main Beach Residents and Businesses Information

The streets of Main Beach will soon be transformed in preparation for the 2018 Vodafone Gold Coast 600 with construction to begin on Monday 10 September.

Please refer to the Construction Schedule HERE and the regular Build Notices HERE for further details on when various streets will be affected.

A number of streets and buildings in Main Beach are considered within the race precinct fence and therefore residents are entitled to resident accreditation.

“Event Week” is the key time when there will be changes to resident access and parking.

Road Changes / Closures

There are 3 major changes for traffic conditions during Event Week:

  • Monday 15 October at 12.01am - track precinct becomes one-way, in an anti-clockwise race direction. Southbound lanes on Gold Coast Highway from Tedder Ave to Ferny Ave closed and Northbound lanes will operate as a two-way system until morning of Tuesday 23 October.
  • Monday 15 October at 12.01am - Cronin Avenue traffic flow changes to eastbound direction until morning of Tuesday 23 October. Traffic controllers will be in place to direct traffic however local residents are advised that all vehicles (including those parked) will need to face eastbound (i.e. towards Main Beach Parade)
  • Friday 19 October at 7am – Track closed for racing. There is no access to the track between 7.00am and 7.00pm on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday and is limited to local traffic only, with correct accreditation/passes, between 7.00pm and 7.00am each day*. Road is returned to normal direction with lanes open at 5.00am Tuesday 23 October.

Access to Main Beach during construction and Event Week

  • Tedder Avenue will be open for business as usual for the duration of construction and throughout Event Week
  • Main Beach is best accessed via Waterways Dr during Event Week
  • During Event Week, Tedder Avenue from Cronin Avenue south is accessible by local traffic only
  • Further information including a full list of streets affected and the construction schedule will be available on our website

The Main Beach Traffic Area

  • The City of Gold Coast will enact the Main Beach Traffic Area over the weekend with the 2 hour traffic zone in place.
  • Resident event parking permits will be distributed by Supercars week commencing October 8, 2018. These will be delivered to Building Managers (for high rise complexes) and mail boxes (for homes and units). Residents do not need to apply via the City of Gold Coast website for Main Beach Traffic Area permits.
  • These permits will allow residents extended parking in the specified 2 hour Event Parking zones. These permits DO NOT override regular City of Gold Coast parking signs. Please ensure you take a moment to check when parking on the streets of Main Beach.
  • The two hour parking zone is marked on the Event Map and via the City of Gold Coast website.
  • If residents/businesses require additional parking passes, they can be supplied upon presentation of identification to confirm your residency. We will be located in the Accreditation Centre (demountable buildings) on Breaker Street from Thursday 11 October until Sunday 21 October.

 

Surfers Paradise Residents and Businesses Information

The streets of Surfers Paradise will soon be transformed in preparation for the 2018 Vodafone Gold Coast 600 with construction to begin on Monday 10 September.

Please refer to the Construction Schedule and the regular Build Notices HERE for further details on when various streets will be affected.

A number of streets and buildings in Surfers Paradise are considered within the race precinct fence and therefore residents are entitled to resident accreditation.

“Event Week” is the key time when there will be changes to resident access and parking.

Event Week is from Monday October 15 – Monday October 22.

Residents of Kupari, The Shore and Monaco will have restricted vehicle access from Friday October 19 – Sunday October 21.

These residents will be contacted directly via their respective Building Managers in the lead up to Event Week.

Residents of Golden Gate will also be contacted via the building’s Body Corporate regarding changes their building’s access during Event Week.

Paradise Waters Residents and Businesses Information

The streets of Main Beach and Surfers Paradise will soon be transformed in preparation for the 2018 Vodafone Gold Coast 600 with construction to begin on Monday 10 September.

At various times, traffic conditions will be altered and delays could be experienced.

From Thursday 11 October, the right turning lane into Admiralty Drive will be reduced to allow for a grandstand installation.

Access to Paradise Waters will be maintained however traffic congestion may occur during peak times.

The Queensland Police Service (QPS) will be on duty at this intersection from Monday 15 October.

Supercars has worked closely with several stakeholders including the City of Gold Coast, the Department of Transport and Main Roads, the Queensland Police Service and Translink to ensure this event can be carried out safely while minimising inconvenience to local residents and businesses.

Paradise Waters is outside the race precinct fence, therefore residents have 24-hour pedestrian and vehicle access to their homes and businesses.

Paradise Waters residents are not eligible to apply for resident accreditation.

The Main Beach Traffic Area

    • The City of Gold Coast will enact the Main Beach Traffic Area over the Event weekend with the two-hour traffic zone in place. This area encompasses the streets of Paradise Waters.
    • The two-hour parking zone is enforced in order to restrict parking in the Paradise Waters streets to residents and their guests only.
    • Resident event parking permits will be distributed by Supercars week commencing October 8, 2018. These will be delivered to Building Managers (for high rise complexes) and mail boxes (for homes and units). Residents do not need to apply via the City of Gold Coast website for Main Beach Traffic Area permits.
    • These permits will allow residents extended parking in the specified 2 hour Event Parking zones. These permits DO NOT override regular City of Gold Coast parking signs including loading and taxi zones.
    • The two hour parking zone is marked on the Event Map and via the City of Gold Coast website and will only be in force from 9am – 5pm on Friday 19 October, Saturday 20 October and Sunday 21 October.
    • If residents/ businesses require additional parking passes, they can be supplied upon presentation of identification to confirm your residency. We will be located in the Accreditation Centre (demountable buildings) on Breaker Street from Thursday 11 October until Sunday 21 October or please contact gc@supercars.com and we can arrange delivery.

Police Presence – Admiralty Drive – Event Week

  • To ease traffic congestion on Monday 15 & Tuesday 16 October, the Queensland Police Service (QPS) will be present at the intersection of Admiralty Drive and Gold Coast Highway between 7am - 9am & 4pm - 6pm.
  • From Wednesday 17 to Sunday 21 October, QPS will be on duty from 7am - 9pm. At all other times vehicles will utilise the traffic signals.
  • The right hand turning lane into Paradise Waters (when travelling from Southport) will be opened for the duration of the event however this will be under police control when on duty at the times listed above.
  • There may be times during Event Week (for example on Wednesday 17 October when the convoy of transporter trucks access Pit Lane) when QPS need to temporarily close this turning lane. Please follow their directions at all times.
