With over three decades of racing across all levels of Supercars, Chris Smerdon is easily the most experienced driver in the 2023 Dunlop Series.

The most senior driver on the grid across all three tiers of Supercars racing, Smerdon joined the touring car racing ranks all the way back in 1992 with the purchase of a Perkins Engineering-built VL Commodore.

Later upgrading to a Perkins-built VP, Smerdon became a popular fixture among the privateers in V8 Supercars through the 1990s and achieved notoriety with fans through his appearance in the cult classic documentary 'In The Pits' at the end of the decade.

He stepped away from the 'main game' in 2000 to focus on business commitments but returned to the cockpit in V8 Brutes and, later in the decade, in third-tier Supercars competition.

Smerdon claimed the V8 Touring Car Series title in 2008 and has been a regular in the category through its transition into Super3 in 2019, most recently in a succession of Ford Falcons that were originally built by Stone Brothers Racing.

This year he returns to his roots by getting back into the cockpit of a Holden Commodore, although the Stone family link remains with the car's preparation conducted by Matt Stone Racing.
