Shane van Gisbergen’s historic championship-winning Commodore Supercar has been put on display in Bathurst.

Chassis 888A-054, dubbed ‘Chastitii’, was the final Holden to win the Supercars Championship.

The car was also the final Holden to win the Bathurst 1000, with van Gisbergen and Garth Tander taking out last October’s Great Race.

The decorated car arrived at Bathurst’s National Motor Racing Museum this week ahead of the Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour.

The historic Holden will be on display at the museum until the end of the year.

It comes after Broc Feeney’s Commodore, also from 2022, arrived at the Welcome Centre at The Bend Motorsport Park.

Both cars are complete in the one-off Holden tribute livery carried at the 2022 season finale, last December’s VALO Adelaide 500.

While van Gisbergen went winless at the event, the Kiwi still managed to celebrate his third Supercars crown in style.

Van Gisbergen, who was carrying the #1, famously did burnouts around the championship trophy on the pit straight.

The car picked up right-rear damage and a delaminated tyre — and it has all been retained for display.

The car is now owned by Nulon Racing team owner Peter Xiberras, who purchased the Commodore last year.

Chassis 888A-054 won the Great Race twice — in 2020 and 2022 — and drivers’ titles with van Gisbergen in 2021 and 2022.

With 39 race wins between 2020 and 2022, chassis 888A-054 is the most successful Supercars chassis of all time.

The car joins a number of famous vehicles in the museum, which is located at the foot of Mount Panorama at Murray’s Corner.

Notably, the museum has housed the likes of the 1977 race-winning Ford XC Falcon, and 1984 race-winning Holden VK Commodore.

This year’s Repco Bathurst 1000 will be the 60th anniversary of the 1963 race, the first enduro at Mount Panorama.

The 2023 Repco Supercars Championship will resume at the Bosch Power Tools Perth SuperSprint on April 28-30.
