Bathurst 1000 winner and long-time Supercars team owner Paul Morris will run a Holden Colorado in the maiden ECB SuperUtes Series for Jonathan Bloxsom.

Morris signalled his interest early in the new class, which is based on dual-cab, turbo-diesel machinery and making its debut at the 2018 Adelaide 500.

Holden has similarly backed the series, with Morris’s outfit joining Ross Stone Racing in building a Colorado for 2018.

A relative newcomer to motorsport, Queenslander Bloxsom will race the Holden-supported PMM Colorado, having contested V8 Utes and Aussie Racing Cars events this year.

“I’ve had a little bit of time with Paul over the years,” Bloxsom told Supercars.com.

“He and Holden are hand in hand. He’s been with Holden forever and being a legend of motorsport that he is, it’s great to be teamed up with them.

“Adelaide’s going to be brilliant, we’re looking forward to getting the Holden on the grid.

“We’ll get a bit of practice and stuff in before that. We’re really looking forward to getting there.”

The Stone-built Colorado was on display for the first time at last weekend’s Coates Hire Newcastle 500, alongside the new Toyota Hilux SuperUte.

Starting in Adelaide next March, the inaugural eight-round calendar was also announced.

Six SuperUtes have been homologated, the Colorado and Hilux accompanied by the Ford Ranger, Mitsubishi Triton, Mazda BT-50 and Isuzu D-Max.

Supercars Hall of Famer Ross Stone has been heavily involved in the development of the class, and his outfit is set to run at least three different marques in 2018.

“We looked at the series back in August in the QR round and we’ve always wanted to race a Holden and finally got the deal done [in Newcastle],” Bloxsom aded.

“This is my category, I’m looking forward to doing this.

“I’ve done a few rounds of the Utes this year, just getting ready for next year.”
