Cameron Waters has resumed his championship campaign, securing pole position ahead of the Dunlop Series' two 29 lap races at the Coates Hire Ipswich 400.

The Mildura native recorded a 1min 10.35 around the 'paperclip' in his ENZED Falcon - only 0.0138secs ahead of title contender Paul Dumbrell.

Waters' fast first and third sectors couldn't be matched by Townsville round winner Chris Pither, who will begin the first race on the second row of the grid in third, alongside series leader Ash Walsh in fourth position.

Accomplished driver Steven Johnson will kick off his assault on Queensland Raceway in fifth, followed by Andre Heimgartner and Tim Blanchard, who returns to the series this weekend with MW Motorsport.

Gary Jacobson, Aaren Russell and Andrew Jones rounded out the top ten.

Kristian Lindbom will start his first Dunlop Series race since the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 last year in 13th, ahead of his wild card enduro campaign.

While the fastest in the group 1 qualifying session, Ant Pedersen was bumped down into 15th position, while Macauley Jones' Commodore will begin the Coates Hire Ipswich 400 in 18th on his second stint in a V8 Supercar.

The Worldwide Gaming Holden of Ben Schoots interrupted the first 15 minute qualifying session with a red flag, after his Dragon Racing Commodore peeled off to the side of Dick Johnson straight breathing smoke.

Schoots will begin race 1 in 30th place.

The Dunlop Series will celebrate it's 250th race with the first Race 1 of the Dunlop Series at the Coates Hire Ipswich 400 will begin at 3.25EST.
