Championship leader Garry Jacobson has been awarded the ARMOR ALL Pole Position in the Supercars Dunlop Series qualifying session this morning in Sydney.

Jacobson rocketed to the top of the timesheets with a best lap time of 1.29.09 in the closing two minutes of the session.

The young racer will start from the front of the grid for race two today alongside his teammate Jack Le Brocq.

Le Brocq qualified second, just 0.02seconds behind Jacobson.

The race will be the final chance for the pair to go head to head for number one in the championship.

Jacobson is currently 127 points ahead of Le Brocq in the points standings with 150 points up for grabs in this afternoon’s final Dunlop Series race at the Coates Hire Sydney 500.

GRM’s James Golding was on the pace from the beginning of the session, first to top the timesheets in the session. Golding will line up behind Le Brocq on the grid for this afternoons race after qualifying third.

Todd Hazelwood has consistently fought at the front of the field this weekend in his iseek Commodore and will start in the second row.

The Dunlop Series will be on-track at 2:20pm for the final race of the 2016 season.
