Dunlop Series - Practice 2 Highlights Sandown

Prodrive sensation Jack Le Brocq found his feet and is back on top after practice two at the Wilson Security Sandown 500 this afternoon.

The championship leader said they went the wrong way with the set up in practice one this morning, but tuned the Ford Falcon FG X for this afternoon’s dash.

Le Brocq hit pace early in the session, topping the timesheets with a best lap time of 1min09.7sec, just 0.1 seconds in front of Todd Hazelwood who finished second.

Veteran Paul Dumbrell backed up well after his Supercars co-driver session today alongside Jamie Whincup, claiming P3 in the Dunlop Series second practice. Dumbrell finished with a best lap time of 1min10.2sec just 0.4 seconds behind Le Brocq.

GRM Boys James Golding and Richard Muscat also proved good pace throughout the session, both finishing in the top ten.

A red flag with 27 minutes remaining slowed the field back, after Matt Chahda hit a gravel trap.

Hazelwood was pushed wide at turn seven, hitting the kerb and entering the gravel trap. He managed to get through and finish comfortably in P2.

Davies moved into P1 with eight minutes remaining in the session but soon after went off-track and Le Brocq reclaimed the lead.

Kurt Kostecki dug himself a hole at turn four on a new set of tyres with five minutes remaining in the session but managed to recover and re-join the circuit finishing 19th in the session.

The session proved difficult for many, a slippery track after overnight rain resulting in lots of mud planted on the track after a few off-track excursions.
