Dunlop Series - Race 1 Highlights Perth

Jack Le Brocq has taken his first victory for Prodrive Racing Australia in the Supercars Dunlop Series, edging veteran Andrew Jones in the first race in Perth.

The young gun becomes the fourth different winner in six Dunlop Series races this season with the victory, but did not get the cross the line in the lead, after the race was red flagged because of wet weather.

Jones started the 28-lap race from pole position but only held the lead for the first seven laps, with Le Brocq rounding up the Alliance BJR Commodore at the final corner after an intense battle.

The race settled into a rhythm until lap 22, when rain started to fall hard and triggered a Safety Car. The race was then red flagged and declared, with a time certain finish.

Le Brocq’s teammate and Series leader Garry Jacobson grabbed third, ahead of another experienced hand, Paul Dumbrell.

The Prodrive racer was pleased with the result, though he hopes for a more emphatic victory tomorrow.

“Probably not the way I wanted to win it, I would’ve liked to cross the line,” he said post-race.

“It’s a credit to the boys at PRA and all our sponsors.”

Rookie Anton De Pasquale recorded fifth, with Shae Davies and Macauley Jones following.

Local youngster Alex Rullo was 15th.
