Jack Le Brocq is within striking distance of the Dunlop Super2 Series lead following victory in Race 2 at Phillip Island this morning.

Matt White Motorsport's Le Brocq led from start to finish and clocked the fastest lap of the race to claim his second race win of the year in his Nissan Altima.

Defending Super2 series winner Garry Jacobson, who stole victory from Le Brocq in Race 1 yesterday, was holding onto second position before a tyre failure with just two laps remaining.

"I had absolutely zero warning of the tyre going to let go," Jacobson said after spinning at high-speed into the Turn 1 run-off area.

Current points leader Paul Dumbrell started on the third row of the grid before picking off Shae Davies and Todd Hazelwood to finish second, 7.73 seconds behind Le Brocq.

Hazelwood made a pass on Shae Davies with six laps remaining, settling for third behind Le Brocq and Dumbrell.

Davies crossed the line in fourth with Anton De Pasquale a close fifth ahead of Will Brown, who started back in 16th.

Dumbrell leads the standings on 691 points ahead of Hazelwood (680) and the charging Le Brocq on 670, while Jacobson is back in seventh (420).
