MW Motorsport driver Garry Jacobson has claimed victory in the second race of the 2018 Dunlop Super2 Series at the Adelaide 500.

The 2016 Dunlop Super2 Series winner led from start-to-finish, following a second-place finish behind Paul Dumbrell in yesterday's opener.

The pair switched places today, with Jacobson getting the jump off the line in his Nissan and making the most of that.

He took a sixth career Super2 win by 2.5184 seconds over Dumbrell, with the pair level on points entering Sunday’s third and final race of the weekend.

Kurt Kostecki battled Dumbrell for second, applying the pressure throughout the race but couldn’t find a way past the two-time series winner.

Kostecki eventually finished third, matching his maiden podium recorded on Friday afternoon.

Shae Davies and Macauley Jones took fourth and fifth, Jones gaining two position during the race, while Davies finished where he started.

Will Brown (Holden), who lost several places at Turn 4 on the opening lap, Chris Pither (Holden), Brodie Kostecki (Holden), Dean Fiore (Nissan) and Bryce Fullword (Ford) rounded out the top 10.

Team-mate of Jacobson and Fiore, Alex Rullo was in ninth when a hit from Brodie Kostecki fired him off at Turn 4, losing pace thereafter and eventually finishing 19th.

Tyler Greenbury was the top rookie in 12th, just ahead of Dominic Storey and Zane Goddard, who regrouped from a coming together with Nathan Morcom on the opening lap.

Image Racing driver Adam Marjoram crashed heavily at Turn 8 on lap five, also spearing into the inside wall, bringing out the Safety Car for two laps.

The third and final race of the Super2 season opener commences tomorrow at 1:05pm local time.
