Dunlop Series - Race 1 Highlights Sandown

Garry Jacobson has broken teammate Jack Le Brocq’s five race winning streak after claiming Race One this afternoon at the Wilson Security Sandown 500.

Jacobson is more than in the fight with Le Brocq in the Dunlop Series points standings –  the gap between the teammates has narrowed to just seven points.

Jacobson finished first with a best lap time of 1min11.0 just 0.8 seconds in front of Muscat.

Muscat claimed P2, his best finish in the category so far followed by veteran Paul Dumbrell in P3.

He proved to drive his Ford Falcon FG X sharp and smart throughout the race, making his way to lead in the final lap after Hazelwood and Le Brocq went on an off-track excursion.

A safety car with five laps remaining caused upset for Hazelwood and Le Brocq who lost their positions at the front.

Le Brocq attempted to pass Hazelwood on the inside for P1 but the pair went on an off-track excursion instead.

Hazelwood sprung to the lead by turn two of the first lap, breaking his way through the Prodrive lockout and holding onto P1 until the final lap of the Race. Dreams of a race win were shattered after the passing incident with Le Brocq and Hazelwood finished seventh.

Le Brocq made a dive for the lead and lost position finishing ninth.

Jake Kostecki ended up off track and back in the pits, not finishing this afternoons race.

Chelsea Angelo incurred a pit lane penalty for contact and later in the race went off track and didn’t complete the race.
