Dumbrell tops first Dunlop Super2 practice of 2017

Veteran Supercars driver Paul Dumbrell has topped the first practice session of the year in the Dunlop Super2 Series.

Dumbrell, went quickest with a best lap time of 1.23.1776 in his Next Generation Triple Eight Commodore.

Jack Le Brocq was on the pace in his #28 Nissan Altima, taking out P2 in practice just 0.0122secs behind Dumbrell. 

The Matthew White Nissan Altimas made their debut into the Super2 Series in style with Le Brocq’s teammate Shae Davies P5.

Brad Jones Racing’s Macauley Jones completed his best lap time of practice in the closing minutes with a 1.23.4165 to finish P3.

Defending Dunlop Super2 Series champion Garry Jacobson proved consistent in the session, finishing P4 behind Macauley Jones.

The first ten minutes of the session saw the Dunlop Super2 rookies take to the track on their own.

Mason Barbara proved the quickest of the rookies, fastest in their ten-minute stint with a 1.25.74 before he finished the session with a 1.24.71 17th overall.

The other rookies on-track were Nathan Morcom Brodie Kostecki, Will Brown and Jack Smith.

The Kostecki family have three cars in the Series this season, brothers Jake and Kurt Kostecki racing for Kostecki Brothers Racing and cousin Brodie Kostecki running with Matt Stone Racing.

Kurt Kostecki has ex Team 18 engineer Jason Bush on board this year working on his #55 Holden Commodore.

The Dunlop Super2 Series will be back on-track for practice two at 2.15pm Adelaide local time this afternoon.
