Dunlop Super2 Series leader Paul Dumbrell claimed a commanding victory in the second race of Round 3 at Barbagallo Raceway.

The Eggleston Motorsport driver took an early lead, having beaten polesitter Thomas Randle to Barbagallo Raceway’s first corner, ultimately finishing 6.0128 seconds clear.

Dumbrell seized his opportunity to sneak past after Randle was slow off the line, a move the two-time Super2 Series winner has replicated in multiple races already this season.

Tickford Racing rookie Randle applied pressure in the early stages but couldn't find a way past and ultimately couldn’t stay with Dumbrell.

He still finished second, keeping an experienced group behind him at bay to do so.

MW Motorsport’s Garry Jacobson and Garry Rogers Motorsport’s Chris Pither both finished within a second of Randle, in third and fourth.

Pither moved past Shae Davies mid-race, but couldn’t beat Jacobson in the battle for the last podium spot.

Davies and Alex Rullo occupied the next two places, Rullo having spent parts of the race battling Kurt and Brodie Kostecki.

Both Kostecki drivers had offs in the second half of the race, though, and fell to 15th and 16th.

With the race results, Rullo will start Race 3 from pole position, sharing the front row with Randle, ahead of Pither and Dumbrell in third and fourth.

Macauley Jones finished seventh from 12th on the grid, while Mason Barbera, Jake Kostecki and Jack Smith rounded out the top 10.

Adam Marjoram narrowly missed out on the top 10, gaining nine places to finish 11th, one spot ahead of Race 1 runner-up Dean Fiore.

The weekend’s third and final 28-lap race will take place at 12:55pm local time.
