Paul Dumbrell set the pace in first practice for Round 3 of the 2018 Dunlop Super2 Series at the Perth SuperSprint.

The two-time Dunlop Super2 Series champion led for the entirety with a time set on his third flying lap in his Eggleston Motorsport VF Commodore.

Dumbrell took a commanding position with a 58.0345s lap time, ultimately finishing 0.0544s clear of Dean Fiore.

Fiore spent the bulk of the session with his Nissan Altima in the pits, but ventured out mid-session to take P2 behind Dumbrell.

The Matt White Motorsport driver's first lap was good enough for P10, before pushing into P4 one lap later and P2 the following lap.

Garry Jacobson was third fastest in the sister MWM Altima, recording a 58.1434s, just 0.1090s behind the session leader.

Chris Pither and Macauley Jones occupied the next two places aboard their Holdens, followed by Dumbrell's team-mate Will Brown and Ford driver Bryce Fullwood.

Thomas Randle was fastest of the rookies, placing his Ford Falcon eighth ahead of Alex Rullo (Nissan) and Brodie Kostecki (Holden) rounding out the top 10.

The only on-track incident was caused by Rullo who came unstuck and beached his MW Altima in the sand trap at Turn 4.

The incident brought out the red flags and the session came to a halt before being resumed with just over 10 minutes remaining

The second 40-minute practice sessions starts at 1:45pm, before a pair of ARMOR ALL Qualifying sessions and Race 1 on Saturday afternoon.
