Jamie Whincup produced a commanding performance in today's first qualifying session to secure his fifth ARMOR ALL Pole Position for 2015.

The Red Bull racer held the top spot for the majority of the session, with his lap of a 1min31.0854 - set on his second flyer - enough to secure him the first grid spot.

Scott McLaughlin trailed the six time V8 Supercars Champion by 0.0903, and will start the 60 kilometre sprint from second.

Championship contenders Craig Lowndes and David Reynolds qualified third and fourth respectively, ahead of championship leader Mark Winterbottom in fifth.

Shane van Gibsergen was sixth quickest in the 10-minute hit out, having benefitted from the draft produced by Scott Pye who he followed on track.
