UPDATE:

David Wall has triggered a red flag, his Volvo S60 parked on the grass between turns three and four at Sydney Motorsport Park.

The team suspects the same issue has occurred again, after a front right wheel came loose earlier this session.

Valvoline Racing GRM is investigating a wheel flying off David Wall's car during the final test session at the sydney.com SuperTest.

Wall lost the front right at the final part of the 3.93km Sydney Motorsport Park circuit, with no prior warning.

"It literally just felt like a flat tyre," the new Volvo recruit told v8supercars.com.au.

"I didn't feel the wheel come off - it came off the last corner ... and I just came into pit lane. It wasn't ideal."

Wall said the drama was "TBA" and wasn't too worried about missing running time this afternoon while his crew looked further into the issue.

"They'll soon find out, they're obviously very good at what they do. They'll find out the cause, fix it, and if we get it back out, we do, if not we'll go again tomorrow."

While he has grappled with brake problems throughout the day - his first outing in the Volvo S60, as he joins the team for the 2015 V8 Supercars season - he didn't believe the issues were related.

"I've had a brake drama all day," Wall said.

"We've tried different discs, different calipers, all sorts of things, so basically didn't expect anything like that - but it's been something we're chasing."

Wall has moved to his third home in three seasons with Wilson Security Racing, after driving 2014 at DJR and '13 at BJR.

He believed the biggest difference between the Volvo S60 and the Dick Johnson Racing Falcon he steered last year was the feel of the front end.

"The front end of this car is very good - if I had to pick one thing, I'd say it's very strong turn in the car. So that's something I've gotten used to over the day, but previously we didn't quite have that turn. It's definitely different."

The Volvos were new to the grid in 2014, but that didn't stop Wall's current teammate Scott McLaughlin from racking up race wins and pole positions throughout the year. Learning from his teammate will be important as Wall comes to grips with the car.

"Scotty's obviously very fast, and he's also very open about how to drive the car," the 32-year old said.

Red Bull Racing Australia's Craig Lowndes remains quickest in the day's final session at the sydney.com SuperTest, with 50 minutes left to run.

McLaughlin is seventh and Wall's best time has left him 24th.
