Race 17 Highlights - Castrol EDGE Townsville 400

The Falcons were strong but Mark Winterbottom said they didn't dominate, with other drivers recording the fastest laps of the races at the Castrol EDGE Townsville 400.

Winterbottom won both races with teammate David Reynolds on the podium, and the Championship leader's back-to-back results mean still only five drivers in the field have recorded wins at the Reid Park street circuit.

Who was your best performer across the two street races?

Mark Winterbottom - Pepsi Max Crew - finished first and first

He has further extended his Championship lead with back-to-back wins at the street circuit to a whopping 248 points over Craig Lowndes.

Winterbottom had only won at Townsville once, back in 2010, but shifted that tally to third - equal second with Garth Tander - over the weekend.

Winterbottom was unsure the Falcon FG X would perform over the street circuit, but not only has he taken the wins, he's firmed his confidence his car will be consistently strong at the upcoming street circuits on the calendar.

David Reynolds - The Bottle-O Racing - finished second and third

He's backed up his performance from Darwin and shot to fourth in the Championship, ahead of Prodrive stablemate Chaz Mostert.Reynolds stood on the podium both days in Townsville with a second and a third, both one position higher than he qualified for each race.

Considering that prior to the previous round Reynolds hadn't won a race since late 2013, it has been a huge upturn in form for the Bottle-O racer.

James Courtney - Holden Racing Team - finished sixth and second

He qualified back in 16th yesterday but speed and smart strategy saw the HRT driver and 2010 Champion work his way through the field. A clean pass on teammate Garth Tander in the late stages of the race put him in position for a podium and Courtney also got the job done on Reynolds, breaking up the Ford one-two.

Sixth on Saturday was a good recovery and a decent bag of points for a driver looking to get back into the mix of the title fight.

Lee Holdsworth - Team 18 - finished 13th and seventh

Landing in the Walkinshaw Racing squad after an interesting move to team with Charlie Scherkolt for this season, Holdsworth had been hoping for results since his showing at the pre-season SuperTest.

However they hadn't come to beuntil yesterday's race, when the Commodore driver steered his Holden into the ARMOR ALL Top 10 Shootout and qualified ninth, earning his best starting spot since the year's opening race.

He was able to improve during the race, crossing the line seventh, earning his best race result of the 2015 yesterday.
