The famed JCB GT Backhoe loader is set to showcase its speed at the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000, alongside an array of entertainment options on offer at the Great Race.

While thrilling crowds at the legendary race by reaching speeds near 193km/hour with its supercharged Chevrolet V8 big block engine, the unique machine will attempt to officially become the world's fastest earthmover, with plans to set a new world record at Mount Panorama.

"The JCB GT is unofficially known as the world's fastest backhoe, and this run will finally make it official. We're excited to see how it performs," said JCB CEA Executive General Manager Hylton Taylor.

"More than two years of research and development went into producing the GT, so I'm sure it will exceed expectations."

However, the Backhoe won't be the only unique vehicle to take to the track at the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 - the Mountain is set to sing an unfamiliar, yet thrilling tune when the Minardi Formula One takes to the hallowed V8 Supercar terrain.

Race goers have been given the chance to have a hot lap in the two seater F1 car where they will tear around the circuit at incredible speeds - even Mark Berretta will have a hot lap when Will Davison swaps his V8 Supercar for the F1 on Thursday, which is something you won't want to miss!

From Thursday across the rest of the weekend, Mingay and his team will burn some rubber in their Drift Utes, accompanied by their adrenaline-filled display of dangerous and spectacular motorbike stunts. The Aussie Bandit Ute will also be on track across the entire weekend at the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000, blowing flames and showcasing it's wheel-standing tricks to the crowd.

Fans will be in for the treat with the Australian Defence Force's Project Digger on offer across the entire weekend.

Heads will turn when the Army's customised 1979 Ford LTD Street Machine, transformed by Army apprentices, spins its wheels on track. And if that's not enough, fans can even get up close and personal with the special vehicle as it's on display in merchandise alley.
