Volvo Polestar Racing team owner Garry Rogers has reacted philosophically to Alex Premat being held up in pit lane at the Wilson Security Sandown 500 and losing five positions on the track.

While Mark Skaife urged Premat to push Oliver Gavin's HHA Holden Commodore out of the way on the telecast, Rogers said it would have been the wrong thing to tell the Frenchman to do.

"What would that do? Damage the front of the car and they would all get aggro.

"There is a long way to go. Cool heads will prevail."

Premat, who drove for Rogers full-time in 20012-13, is sharing the 33 Volvo S60 with Scott McLaughlin and was running eighth before the pitlane drama. Earlier he had also got involved in some panel banging with David Reynolds in the Bottle-O Falcon.

"He is all action isn't he, but gee he did a good job," said Rogers.
