Pye's 1min11.4183 was on the young driver's last lap around the 2.98km street track, nudging Craig Lowndes off the top spot by 0.21sec.

Completing the top 10 is Rick Kelly, Scott McLaughlin, Shane van Gisbergen, Fabian Coulthard, James Moffat, James Courtney and Chaz Mostert.
Jamie Whincup came home 12th while Championship competitor Mark Winterbottom was 18th.
The session saw drivers pushing the track limits, with tyre bundles installed this year instead of the 90-degree kerbs used last year to limit kerb hopping throughturns 1, 9 and 10.
A number of drivers including Lowndes, both Todd and Rick Kelly, David Wall, Mostert, Dale Wood and Lee Holdsworth, paid a one-minute penalty in pit lane after pushing over the allowed kerb hops in the session.
The next session, which kicks off at 11.55am local time, is specifically for co-drivers.
