Scott Pye's #16 DJR Falcon has been excluded from two V8 Supercars events because of a technical infringement.

Centre of gravity ballast seals had been removed from the engine, which are required within the rules and are policed with random checks by V8 Supercars.

Pye will lose his Championship points for both the Phillip Island and Gold Coast events, dropping him from 16th to 19th in the Championship points.

A DJR spokesperson told v8supercars.com.au that it was an unacceptable mistake that had harsh consequences for Pye.

"Unfortunately it was a fundamental mistake was made that should never have occurred," the spokesperson said.

"In the mad panic of preparing three cars to come to this event, a seal was cut off the car and you simply can't do that ... it's very clear in the rules what that means and there's no excuse for it."

As reported earlier, Pye is one driver on the lookout for a seat in 2015, with his position at DJR in doubt as RECs - Racing Entitlement Contracts, that underpin each entry - shuffle in pit lane.

Marcos Ambrose - who ran the third DJR wild card at the Sydney NRMA 500 - will be driving for the team, which morphs into DJR Team Penske, for the 2015 season.
