Hometown hero Scott McLaughlin is under investigation for both qualifying sessions.

In the first, it is deemed he blocked Jamie Whincup – when the Volvo driver qualified third.

McLaughlin recorded ARMOR ALL Pole Position for today’s second race, with Whincup to start alongside him on the front row. He is being examined for contact with Jason Bright in pitlane in that session.

The stewards will rule on possible penalties shortly.

Mark Winterbottom, Shane van Gisbergen, Garth Tander, Nick Percat, Craig Lowndes, David Reynolds, Todd Kelly and James Moffat completed the top 10 in the second session.

Earlier pole sitter James Courtney is 11th, with yesterday’s race winner Jason Bright 14th for Race 12.

A late red flag to rescue Robert Dahlgren’s Volvo meant it was a dash from the pits. While Tander was up in the first two sectors, he didn’t capitalise in the last to end up fifth.

Rick Kelly also lost out with his flying lap incomplete with the stoppage.
