Chaz Mostert believes the next stop on the calendar, the Coates Hire Ipswich SuperSprint, could produce his best result yet this season.

Heading to the circuit that hostedhis first V8 Supercars win - taken with Dick Johnson Racing in 2013, just four rounds after his mid-season Championship debut - Mostert was certain the circuit would suit the FG X and his driving style.

The 23-year old is determined to get back on the top step after eighth and sixth place finishes at Townsville, which has traditionally not been the best place for the Prodrive Falcons, but did host two wins for teammate Mark Winterbottom last round.

"Definitely Ipswich is going to be a 'strength track'," Mostert told v8supercars.com.au.

"If we don't have a result there we will be underperforming.

"So looking forward to going to a track that is going to suit us and suits me personally, and we'll try to get a result."

Two months after his Queensland Raceway victory, Mostert was elevated to the factory Ford Pepsi Max seat for 2014, with Will Davison departing for Erebus.

He has since collected five race wins - two this season - and is currently fifth in the Championship, with a top five finish the goal for the year after he finished '14 in seventh position.

The circuit is one that holds great memories for the young gun, and Mostert is hoping to earn more valuable points next weekend at the Coates Hire Ipswich SuperSprint.

"I had the first race win there which was pretty special and then a couple of thirds last year when we weren't quite as strong with the car - obviously looking forward to getting the FG X there, the car has been really adaptable to change at the moment," he said.

"Two rounds in a row we've gone two completely different sides of the setup window - hopefully we can go back to QR and put something similar to Winton or Perth in and be really competitive."

While Mostert has been the form qualifier this season, with six ARMOR ALL Pole Positions to his name - after earning his first P1 start in a V8 Supercar in Perth and kicking off the run - it has been teammate and Championship leader Mark Winterbottom who has earned the most wins of the two. Good jumps off the start have helped, and Mostert named Townsville Sunday a "dream run" for his teammate who showed good speed and had the safety car fall his way.

"He obviously ran a really good race and was really pacey," Mostert said of his teammate in Townsville.

"He just had a dream weekend and we just missed the ball a little bit with a bit of driver error."

With Prodrive stablemate David Reynolds also in the Championship mix and earning three podium finishes - including a win - across the last three races, Mostert says it will be up to the team to manage three cars fighting at the front. All three are in the top five in the points, though Winterbottom's lead has burst out to 248 points over Red Bull rival Craig Lowndes.

"He [Frosty] is really striding away. Obviously he's the priority guy in the team at the moment and we really need to look after his lead - but saying that when we've got a chance to push for race wins and podiums, we really want to get those results for ourselves as well," Mostert said.

"If we can finish 1-2-3 in the Championship that's amazing. We're pushing for that, but we need to be consistent ... and there's a long way to go.

"To be right there with the pack of chasers is pretty cool."

It will be a big fortnight for Mostert who will head to the V8 Supercars showcase in Kuala Lumpur in the days following the Coates Hire Ipswich SuperSprint, representing Ford with his Pepsi Max Falcon. All five manufacturers will be represented in the Asian city, with Craig Lowndes (Holden), Will Davison (Erebus), Todd Kelly (Nissan) and Scott McLaughlin (Volvo) also heading overseas.

Tune in to tomorrow night's episode of Inside Supercars on FOX Sports 506 for more with Mostert at 7.30pm, as he appears with McLaughlin on the panel.
