Chaz Mostert has clinched his first official ARMOR ALL Pole Position in V8 Supercars at the Perth SuperSprint this morning.

Mostert - who had his first win in a factory Ford team at the Barbagallo circuit last year - lines up with his teammate Mark Winterbottom on the front row.

A Ford Falcon has not claimed pole since November 2013 at Phillip Island - today, Prodrive has locked out the front row separated by just 0.06sec, with Mostert recording a 57.04sec lap time.

"Fantastic, the car was quick here last year, its good that the new model is quick here too," Mostert said.

"It's good when you're reading through the magazines that I've got a pole now so I'm pumped for that!

"I can't thank Prodrive enough for giving me a fast car."

Winterbottom was pleased with the result, and to break the much-publicised 'pole drought'.

"I'm happy with second, I didn't think we were going to go that good... it's a good result," he said.

"To get one car there is good, to get two there is even better. To have the front row lockout is a good feeling after the last two years."

Craig Lowndes, who is on the verge of claiming 100 wins this weekend, starts from third position with Garth Tander alongside.

"It is really difficult to get every corner around this track right and get the tyre temp to where we need it to be," Lowndes said.

But the shock of qualifying was his Red Bull teammate Jamie Whincup, buried back in 21st. The team has not reported any specific issues with the Commodore.
