Lap by Lap: Race 23

Red Bull Racing Australia's Jamie Whincup and Fujitsu Racing GRM's Scott McLaughlin start from the front row of the grid for Race 23 at the Coates Hire Ipswich 360. 

McLaughlin and Mostert getting great starts, McLaughlin takes the lead and while Mostert was in second, Whincup has gotten past. 

Fiore wide and rejoining at the back of the pack. 

Tander pushing hard in the mid-pack, in a battle pack with Alex Davison, Winterbottom, Bright and van Gisbergen. 

After one lap, McLaughlin's lead is half a second. 

Whincup's set the fastest lap of the race on lap two with a 1min11.1266. 

Mostert has dropped to seventh. 

Top 10 is McLaughlin, Whincup, Courtney, Reynolds, Coulthard, Slade, Mostert, Alex and Will Davison, Tander. Winterbottom 13, Lowndes up one into 14. 

First Nissan is Todd Kelly in 23rd. 

McLaughlin's recorded the fastest lap with a 1min10.4729 on lap five and now has a 1.5103sec lead. 

Coulthard up the inside of Reynolds for fourth. 

Holdsworth's bad luck continues – he's in pitlane, and Moffat has toured off-track, rejoining in 27th. 

Yellow flag and safety car on lap nine to collect debris on track at turn six. 

Post-race investigation contact with Lee Holdsworth and Dean Fiore at turn six. 

Holdsworth: "It was Pye, he just pulled the most stupid move down the inside".

Safety Car is in pit lane. Restart and McLaughlin does a good job. 

Whincup follows, from Courtney, Coulthard, Reynolds, Mostert, Slade, Alex Davison, Bright, Will Davison. Lowndes in 13th. 

Under investigation Moffat and Wall at turn one lap seven. 

L15 Tander's past Davison and now Winterbottom is having a go at his teammate. 

L16 Reynolds amd Alex Davison pressing Mostert for fifth. 

Left rear door skin coming off car 21, Wall. 

L17 – halfway through the race. Bright passes Reynolds for seventh. 

Mostert is the leading Ford in fifth, behind four Holdens.

L19 Bright's caught Alex Davison and is passed after a small battle. 

McLaughlin's margin has again grown to more than one second. 

L20 Winterbottom up to 11th as he passes the HRT car of Tander. 

LAP BY LAP PIC - Young guns get great starts:

L22 Slade's car is dropping away after a weird sideways movement. Now back in 13th, dropping from within the top 10. 

L24 Webb is up to 16th after qualifying 23rd, up seven positions. 

Todd Kelly is reporting his engine is getting flat. 

Five laps to go – McLaughlin leads Whincup by 1.6888sec. Courtney in line for a podium and Coulthard and Mostert making up the top five.

L30 Alex Davison is the highest positioned FPR car in seventh, one position ahead of Reynolds. 

FINAL LAP - McLaughlin still leads, with a 0.9656sec gap. 

Courtney has just announced re-signing with HRT for three years and is running third. 

McLaughlin wins Race 23 at the Coates Hire Ipswich 360, ahead of Whincup, Courtney, Coulthard, Bright, Mostert, Alex Davison, Reynolds, Will Davison, Winterbottom.

Tander in 11, Lowndes 12, Slade 13, Rick Kelly the first Nissan in 21st. Todd Kelly recorded 22nd for his 400th race start.
