With less than a week to go until the Castrol Townsville 500 - Driven by TAFE Queensland the Super Top is being constructed in Reid Park and final preparations are well underway for the entertainment zone, including the Sirromet Ladies Lounge.

Event manager Rachael White revealed that V8 Supercars would team up with the Mercedes-Benz Townsville Fashion Festival and TAFE Queensland in providing the exclusive Sirromet Ladies Lounge across the event.

The Sirromet Ladies Lounge will be one feature within the massive SuperTop behind the V8 Supercar paddock, which is nearing completion. The SuperTop will host the ladies lounge and provide shade for patrons during the day before transforming into the Saturday evening concert venue.

"We have partnered with the Mercedes-Benz Townsville Fashion Festival to present the Sirromet Ladies Lounge, an exciting addition for this year where female racegoers will be able to drop in and be pampered," White said.

The Mercedes-Benz Townsville Fashion Festival team will be on hand to give ladies fashion advice and TAFE Queensland students will partner with qualified local hairdressers and beauty therapists to put their skills into practice.

"The pamper team will be offering services such as a lippy bar, mini massages, mini manicures, hair touch ups and five-minute hairstyles," White said. "We think the ladies deserve a bit of attention over the weekend and they should really enjoy a little pampering."

TAFE Queensland Chief Executive Officer Jodi Schmidt said giving beauty therapy students work experience in the Sirromet Ladies Lounge was an opportunity not to be missed.

"It's important that our students are exposed to real life work situations during their training, and placements at the Castrol Townsville 500 - Driven by TAFE Queensland will be so beneficial for the students and is something they probably will never forget," Schmidt said.

She is particularly looking forward to spending some time in the Sirromet Ladies Lounge.

"It's fantastic the ladies will have their own area to relax and enjoy the event," she said.

"They can get a sparkling wine from the Sirromet bar, some free chocolates and also get their hair and makeup touched up too - it's going to be a great addition to the event.

"I am really looking forward to heading up to Townsville, it's one of our favourites and the kids love coming too - it's a great event for the family and now there is something extra for the ladies at the track. I think the Sirromet Ladies Lounge is a fabulous idea and will be a big hit."

The Castrol Townsville 500, July 4 - 6 is supported by the Queensland Government through Tourism and Events Queensland as part of a growing calendar of sporting, cultural and regional events throughout the State.
