He's celebrating his 300th race at the Sydney NRMA 500, and Lee Holdsworth is off to a good start in his Erebus Mercedes, topping the day's second practice session with a 1min28.88 lap.

Holdsworth came in with a 0.06sec lead over Red Bull's Jamie Whincup, at a circuit he has been successful in the past, having recorded a race win in 2010 with Garry Rogers Motorsport.

David Reynolds came home third in Practice Two, ahead of Shane van Gisbergen, with Michael Caruso, Russell Ingall, James Courtney, Scott McLaughlin, Rick Kelly and Craig Lowndes completing the top 10.

Both Jason Bright and James Moffat found the wall in the session, the Team BOC Commodore out of Practice Two early, and the Altima with damage down the left hand side of the car.His accident blocked Lowndes, who was on a fast lap at that stage of the session.

Bright's BJR teammate Fabian Coulthard has also sustained damage.
