G:link will once again run extra services across the Supercars Vodafone Gold Coast 600 race weekend with attendees once again able to enjoy free public transport with an event ticket.

Supercars Chief Operating Officer, Shane Howard, said public transport has proved the most convenient way to access the race precinct and with around-the-clock tram services you won’t miss a minute of action.

“More than 170,000 trips were recorded on the light rail last year during the event so we know that ticketholders are getting great value from the free public transport travel included with their entry,” Howard said.

“This is the GC’s biggest party and with action on the track and two huge nights of entertainment it is guaranteed to be one of the best events yet.

“Both Main Beach and Surfers Paradise North stations provide access to the race precinct so remember to pre-purchase your ticket to get the best value for money.”

GoldlinQ (G:link) CEO Phil Mumford was joined by Virgin Australia Supercars Championship driver, Tim Slade at Main Beach station this morning to announce free travel on trams, trains and buses with an event ticket.

Mr Mumford said the GC600 was the busiest weekend of the year for G:link and extra services would be operating during Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

“There will be trams running every 6.5 minutes at peak times and additional services will continue at night for those attending the Broadwater Sounds concerts,” he said.

“The G: has proven its ability during major events with 50,000 passenger trips recorded each day of the event in 2016 and this will be our biggest weekend ahead of the GC2018 Games in April.

“For those attending the event please remember to be patient, hold on at all times while on board and allow extra time for your journey to ensure you reach the event safely.”

Tickets to the Supercars’ Vodafone Gold Coast 600 are available through ticketek.com.au
