Bryce Fullwood believes he is now better placed to handle the demands of his first Virgin Australia Supercars Championship than he was earlier this year.

The Walkinshaw Andretti United rookie, who won the 2019 Dunlop Super2 Series in commanding fashion, was disappointed with his Adelaide showing in February.

Speaking on Supercars SideTracked, Fullwood explained he has since settled in after a hectic start to the year.

“Going into Adelaide I was very, very unorganised,” he said.

“It just took a little while to get the deal done and I had to move from Queensland to Melbourne and all that sort of was happening within the two weeks prior to Adelaide, so going into the event I was absolutely all over the place.

“So one thing I guess this break has done for me is I’ve been able to train and get the fitness level that I really wanted to so it’s kind of like getting to start the season all over again.

“I feel like I’m more ready to tackle the challenge ahead and really excited to get into it.”

The 22-year-old’s pairing with veteran race engineer Rob Starr will only further help his progression as the season unfolds – starting with Sydney Motorsport Park on June 27-28.

“Robbie has been really, really good to work with and he has obviously got a lot of pedigree in the sport,” said Fullwood.

“Having someone with that experience with me coming new into the series, it’s really helpful for me.”

Round 9 of the BP Supercars All Stars Eseries tomorrow night sees a return to oval racing, this time at Michigan.

Fullwood is eager to have another crack on an oval, having placed fourth – just 0.114 seconds behind winner Shane van Gisbergen – in a thriller at Charlotte a fortnight ago.

“Obviously the oval racing was completely different, I’ve never done anything like that before so that was really cool and looking forward to this week,” he added.
