Extra set of tyres granted for Friday

The V8 Supercars Commission has allocated teams an extra set of Dunlop hard tyres for Friday practice at this week's Winton SuperSprint.

The move comes after some debate around tyre allocation and format over the SuperSprint weekends, and gives teams more rubber to maximise Friday practice and 'testing' time.

The set of tyres must be returned to Dunlop at the end of Friday's sessions.

The move will not only help teams get more out of their track time, but produce a more meaningful 'form guide' at the end of the first day of the event.

The additional allocation of tyres will be considered for future events, with more details to come.

Speculation has also surrounded the Saturday race format, which comprises two 60km sprints, with the Commission to discuss later this week.
