Dick Johnson Racing landed in Austin Texas full of confidence for a good showing at the inaugural Austin 400.

The two Wilson Security FG Falcons together with the other 26 V8 Supercars are bedded down in the pit lane waiting to turn the first laps of the spectacular Circuit of the Americas track today (local time).

The DJR team has been out and about soaking up the sights and sounds of this cosmopolitan Texas city. With a huge contingent of teams, media, crew and officials in Texas, it was not hard to bump into an ‘Aussie’ this week in down town Austin. For DJR team Principal Dick Johnson, a return to the USA with his team is a long way from his foray into NASCAR some 23 years ago.

Pedaling the Redkote Steel NASCAR Ford Thunderbird, Johnson contested a number of races in 1989 and 1990 ensuring his laconic humour and Race Cam comments delivered a new view to the broad USA audience.

Turning to the Austin 400, DJR General Manager Steve Johnson said, “It is a great achievement to bring the V8 Supercars Championship to Texas. The facility is fantastic and the track should lend itself to some good door handle to door handle racing this weekend. The Wilson Security Falcons took a step forward in Perth with Chaz joining us. I believe we can carry that forward here again in Austin and continue our progress. It is a new deal for every team and driver here so these events can throw up interesting results. Chaz & Tim are very keen to get the DJR cars out on track for practice to see just how it all stacks up.”

The Austin 400 will be run over four 100km races this weekend.
