Tony D'Alberto is aiming high in the V8 Supercars Championship inaugural race meeting in North America this weekend.

D'Alberto will make his racing debut in the USA, driving his #3 Team HIFLEX Commodore VF against his 27 V8 rivals at the Circuit of the Americas track in Texas.

"This would have to be one of the best things that has ever happened during my time in the V8 Supercars Championship," D'Alberto said.

"Who would have thought that an Australian touring car race would one day have the presence to compete in North America. When I was growing up, it used to be awesome just to see the V8s as a support category for Formula One – now, we are having our own race meetings on F1-style circuits. It's incredible."

The past two events have been a frustrating time for D'Alberto, having endured mechanical issues that have largely been out of the team's hands.

With some revisions in place, D'Alberto is hoping to return to the top 10 in the championship – a position he held comfortably after two events.

"Team HIFLEX is aiming to get back near that top 10 form we had at the start of the year," D'Alberto said. "I'm confident that we'll have the speed, so it will be just a matter of finding out where the track goes, getting on top of the set-up quickly and banking some good, consistent results."

Team owner Al D'Alberto echoed Tony's sentiments.

"We're really focussed on getting back to the top half of the field at Austin, Texas, this weekend," he said.

"After such a great start to the year, it was a shame to see some of our advantage slip away, but as a group, we're confident that we have solved all of the problems that we had."

The Austin 400 will be held at the Circuit of Americas track in Texas this weekend. Four 100km races will be run on Saturday and Sunday (local time), all including a compulsory pit stop.
