The #888 Red Bull racer of Craig Lowndes is under investigation for a technical breach.

UPDATE, 2pm: The investigation into car 888 continues, with a decision expected before the day’s second race.

In the second qualifying session at the Tyrepower Tasmania 400, the Red Bull Racing team covered a safety hole on Craig Lowndes’ car window.

Not only does the matter have safety implications, but could provide a slight aerodynamic advantage around the circuit.

Lowndes will remain on the front row for the first race, though he could be penalised for the second with exclusion from the qualifying session. He recorded the second fastest time and was set to start on the front row alongside his teammate Jamie Whincup.
