Members of the V8Supercars family have taken some unusual routes to Texas for this weekend'sfirst American track action.

The Kellybrothers set a course that detoured through Lynchburg, Tennessee so that Rickand Todd could visit the home base of their major sponsors, Jack Daniel's whiskey, and there have also been NASCAR stop-offs with Marcos Ambrose reunions for anumber of others.

But no-one canbeat the effort of Roland Dane and Paul Morris, with a full BluesBrothers road trip from San Diego to Austin.

Australia's ownJake and Elwood bought an ex-police cruiser in California and headed east toensure they get a full cultural immersion from their time in America.

The road run forDane and The Dude should cover just on 2000 kilometres with their plain blackFord Crown Victoria, which still has the giant front nudge bar and driver'sside spotlight – for highlighting after-dark crime – in place.

But, on the firstmorning they managed an unplanned detour.

"Lost our wayand ended up in Vegas," reported Dane.

The Blues Brothersplan took plenty of organisation, as the car in question was delivered bysometime V8 Supercars long-distance co-driver Boris Said – one of Morris'smates – outside San Diego.

The car is runningon a trade plate provided by Rick Hendricks – the NASCAR team owner – organisation through his new-car sales empire.

But the mostimportant questions are who is driving and what they are doing for music.

"Sharing thedriving. Off to buy some CDs as the cop radio doesn't work," said Dane.
