At the Castrol Townsville 500 - Driven by TAFE Queensland North, Vanessa Amorosi will go one step further than before and perform as a headliner for Saturday night's concert.

While Amorosi has performed on the front straight at the Gold Coast 600 back in 2011, this will be her first time as a concert headliner at a V8 Supercars event -and for the motorsport fan, the chance to perform at home in Australia can't come quick enough.

"Ican'twait! I had such a great experience performing on the Gold Coast, Ican'twait to do it all again," Amorosi told v8supercars.com.au.

Taking the stage along with Jessica Mauboy, Amorosi - whose debut album The Power went to number one in Australia, as well as 2009 single This is Who I Am - will perform a full set and teased that fans may even be lucky enough to get a taste of her new material.

Amorosi is recording new music in Los Angeles, where she is now based and hasn't released an album since '09's Hazardous.

"Yes I am writing at the moment, always creating. LA has been really inspiring. As far as performing new songs... you will have to wait and see!" she laughed.

"I love connecting with an audience. There is nothing more powerful than feeling that buzz from thecrowdand knowing they are all in that moment with you!"

Amorosi also loves the enthusiasm of the V8 Supercars fans at the events.

"It was such a great vibe to be on the front straight, and performing to that crowd. A crowd that is pumped up over petrol sports, thenoiseand the energy! There is so much excitement and passion at a V8 Supercars event, it's always a great experience," she said.

In fact, the 32-year old singer has not just watched cars race -at last year's Australian Grand Prix event, she participated in the Mazda Celebrity Challenge, jumping behind the wheel and experiencing a whole other side of motorsports.

She said it gave her a new level of understanding and appreciation for drivers and their athleticism.

"I reallyenjoyed getting theopportunityto get behind the wheel verses just watching. It gives you a better perspective of just how tough it is, and how it really does come down to the seconds versus thinking that you can overtake.

"There are so many more fine details to race car driving than I ever thought, and I do a lot of motor sports! It really gave me a renewed respect for the athletes that drive those carsprofessionally."

Amorosi will perform alongside Jessica Mauboy - who recently did Australia proud at the Eurovision Song Contest as a guest performer in Coperhangen - for an epic all-female line-up under the Super Top at the Castrol Townsville 500 - Driven by TAFE Queensland.

The event runs from July 4-6 and tickets are available now. The best views are from the grandstands, and those passes will also get you into the V8 Supercars paddock and into the concert under the Super Top.
