SpongeBob Squarepants will make his Australian racing debut with Brad Jones Racing at this weekend’s Australian Grand Prix.

The #96 Pizza Hut Chevrolet Camaro, driven by Macauley Jones, has adopted a special yellow SpongeBob SquarePants-themed livery.

The #96 Chevrolet will be a standout on the Supercars grid, thanks to its bright yellow look and SpongeBob face on the bonnet.

SpongeBob liveries have previously featured on several NASCAR entires over the years, but it is a first in Supercars and in Australia.

Pizza Hut is celebrating 25 years of the Nickelodeon series, with Pizza Hut menus also making a SpongeBob-inspired update.

Launching from April 3, Pizza Hut Australia will feature a top-secret, world-first ice cream flavour, while the Pizza Hut range will also include a brand-new pizza flavour.

The SpongeBob car will hit the track from Thursday, with Jones — who watched the show when he was a child — excited to carry the look on the world stage.

"I have fond memories of watching SpongeBob SquarePants and Patrick Star from when I was younger, I loved watching the show. But this is a whole different ball game," Jones said.

"Pizza Hut have knocked it out of the park again with a unique, eye-catching and just an awesome livery really.

"They say don’t meet your childhood heroes but what about putting them on your race car?

"In the iconic words of SpongeBob SquarePants, ‘I’m ready.'

"I’m quite excited to get out on track at Albert Park, I’ve had a few decent results here in the past and the circuit is one that I genuinely like. Here’s to a good weekend."

Supercars will hit the track on Thursday for two practice sessions, two qualifying sessions and the first race of the weekend, the 19-lap Race 3.
