This is the Larry B. Perkins Ferrari 250 GTO #3223GT on the high banks at the 1964 Daytona 2000 Km. race. Larry's co-driver was Bill Eve and the car finished 11th. Interesting bit of info: according to Mr. Perkins the car in the photo was the very first GTO ever built by Ferrari. The winning car was another Ferrari 250 GTO #5571GT driven by Pedro Rodriguez and Phil Hill. That car was entered by Luigi Chinetti and his North American Racing Team (NART). Second and third were also Ferrari 250 GTO's. The highest finishing American car was a Shelby Cobra roadster driven by Dan Gurney and Bob Johnson which came in 4th. Race history is as follows: 1. 1964 Daytona Continental 2000 Kms., 11th OA/ 9th Class (+2000 Class) Larry Perkins/William Eve #32 (16 Feb.) >Larry Perkins Entry. 2. 1964 Sebring 12 Hrs., 27th OA/3rd Class (GT Class), Larry Perkins/William Eve #82 (21 March) >Larry Perkins Entry. 3. 1966 Daytona 24 Hrs., 19th OA/1st Class (GT Class), Larry Perkins/Jack Slottag #30 (5 Feb.) > Jack Slottag Entry 4. 1966 Sebring 12 Hrs., DNF (accident damage) on lap 61, Larry Perkins/Jack Slottag #35 (26 March) > Jack Slottag Entry Photo courtesy of Chuck Rogers.
