Four of the original six Pete Brock designed Shelby Cobra Daytona coupes on the high banks prior to the start of the 1965 Daytona 2000 Kilometer race. This was round 1 of the World Sportscar Championship. Car #11 was driven by Ed Leslie and Allen Grant and finished 6th.. #12 was driven by Bob Johnson and Tom Payne and did not finish due to engine problems. #13 wad driven by Jo Schlesser, Harold Keck and Bob Johnson and finished 2nd with a 1st in GT+3.0 class. #14 was driven by Rick Muther and John Timanus and came in 4th. The #99 NART Ferrari 275P was driven by Bob Grossman & Walt Hansgen. David Piper and Pedro Rodriguez were also listed as drivers. It did not finish because of a bad clutch. This was the same DNF reason for the Rodriguez Ferrari in the 1965 Sebring race. Pedro was rough on his mounts. The #44 car is a Lotus 19B that was driven by Dan Gurney and Jerry Grant. They didn't finish due to engine problems. They also failed to finish in the same car at Sebring the same year.
